Pennsylvania’s top two teams in the state faced, Haverford School and Episcopal Academy, faced off on April 7 as both teams’ opened Inter-Ac League match.
Haverford entered the game at 7-0, coming off wins over highly ranked teams in PA, Maryland, and New York, earning the No. 1 rank in the DigitalSports National Lacrosse Rankings. Not far behind, No. 13 Episcopal built up a 5-1 record, losing only to talented McDonogh.
With impressive track records for both squads, it seemed like the game would fairly even. Much to Haveford’s delight, this was not the case as the Fords dominated from the opening whistle.
Drew Supinski led the charge early on, scoring two of the Fords three goals in the first quarter. By halftime, Haverford built up a 7-1 lead.
Episcopal gained some ground in the third with quick back-to-back goals, but Supinski stunted the Churchmen’s momentum with another goal. The senior midfielder opened up the fourth quarter with his fourth tally of the game.
In the end, Haverford took a powerful 12-5 victory over Episcopal.
Joining Supinski with four goals was junior attackman Forry Smith. Senior midfielder Brandon Shima dished out three assists.
After a day off, Haverford gets back on the field against Penn Charter on April 9.
